Auxilium Recovery Network offers participants and their informal networks much needed opportunities to take a break from their regular routines, thereby mitigating risks around stress, friction and carer burnout. Sometimes a short stay away from home can make all the difference in terms of giving participants the chance to try new things, serving as a place to make new friends or develop new skills.
Auxilium Recovery Network’s Goal Oriented Respite:
- Is truly person-centred, carefully customised to each participant’s preferences.
- Encompasses activities aligned with plan goals - typically around independence, capacity building and community engagement.
- May cater for groups or individuals, based upon personal preference and therapist recommendations.
- Matches participant with the most suitably matched Auxilium Recovery Network team member to encourage maximum engagement and achievement.
- Is funded by participant NDIS plans (for an aggregate of 28 days per year.
- Can be anything from 1-14 consecutive nights in duration per Goal Oriented Respite.
- Includes safe transportation to/ from the participant’s doorstep – and everywhere in-between!
- Includes a daily meal/ activity allowance (group settings only, wherein providers may bundle meals and activities into the daily rate).

Short-Term Accommodation (STA) FAQs
A: STA is a temporary stay for people with disabilities to receive support when they need a break from their everyday living situation.
A: Generally, you cannot bring family members or friends along. STA is designed for you to have support and some time away on your own, not as a family vacation.
A: This is a common misconception among those who aren’t familiar with the NDIS guidelines. An STA is NOT a holiday. It’s a NDIS funded service where you can get support and assistance while taking a break from home. The focus is on your goals and overall wellbeing, not just relaxation.
A: You can stay for up to 14 days at a time, and you can use STA for a maximum of 28 days in a year.
A: STAs can vary widely in terms of comfort and amenities, but they are primarily focused on providing support and working towards identified goals.
A: You will receive support services such as personal care, meals, and activities tailored to your needs.
A: To book STA, you can contact an approved provider, discuss your needs, and get a quote. Make sure your plan manager approves it before booking.
A: STA isn’t for vacations, but you can participate in fun activities that support your personal goals while you’re there.
A: If you need to cancel, check the providers cancellation policy. It’s best to give as much notice as possible.
A: Funding for STA comes from your NDIS plan. If it’s in your plan, you can access it to pay for your stay and support services.
A: No, STA is available for participants of all ages who are eligible under the NDIS program.
