Short-Term Accommodation (STA) FAQs

A: STA is a temporary stay for people with disabilities to receive support when they need a break from their everyday living situation.
A: Generally, you cannot bring family members or friends along. STA is designed for you to have support and some time away on your own, not as a family vacation.
A: This is a common misconception among those who aren’t familiar with the NDIS guidelines. An STA is NOT a holiday. It’s a NDIS funded service where you can get support and assistance while taking a break from home. The focus is on your goals and overall wellbeing, not just relaxation.
